The Season of the Chosen brings a new activity to Destiny 2 called Battlegrounds. This activity is a PvE game mode similar to strikes, played with up to three players.
How to Play Battlegrounds
Once you start up Destiny 2 in the Season of the Chosen, you will be thrown into a Battlegrounds activity with two other players. You will need to destroy all three shield generators. While you do this, you will have to defeat waves of enemies. Kill the champion, grab the explosive it drops, and throw it at the shield generator.
Do this for each of the three champions, which get more difficult to defeat as you progress through the activity. Once you destroy all three shield generators, you will be able to activate the Rite of Proving.
After activating the Rite of Proving, a Cabal boss will spawn. After you knock out a third of the boss’s health, a champion will spawn, adding to the wave of enemies you need to defeat. You will have to kill the champion to continue afflicting damage on the boss.
Another champion will spawn at the second third of the boss’s health lost. Continue to defeat this champion so you can finally defeat the boss. At the end of the activity, you’ll be able to collect your rewards from a chest.
In later Battlegrounds activities, you will also be able to smash another crate with the Hammer of Proving. This will offer you more loot.
The Four Battlegrounds Activities
The first Battlegrounds activity you play is called Behemoth, which takes place on Nessus. The second is called Hailstone, and this one takes place on Europa. To play Hailstone and the other two Battlegrounds activities, you will need the Season Pass.
The third Battlegrounds activity, called The Cleansing, releases on February 16th. Finally, the Oracle Battleground will be released on February 23rd.
Each of the Battlegrounds activities follow the same format as the first Behemoth activity you play through. Just kill any adds that come your way, defeat the champions, blow up the shield generators (from afar, so you don’t blow yourself up), and defeat the final boss. Then you can collect your rewards.
